DONNA DEWBERRY

Self taught, Donna Dewberry is probably one of the most well-known acrylic artists today.   Her work has brought her fame throughout the art and decorating sector all across the United States and worldwide.  Known for the One Stroke  technique of painting, which she invented and developed, Donna Dewberry has become an inspiration to many would-be artists today.

Donna can sympathize with others who desire to paint but think they can't. She herself felt the same way at one time. Although she considered herself creative, she never thought she could paint. Nevertheless, Donna's extreme desire to learn prompted her to spend night after night at her dining room table, painting while the rest of the Dewberry family slept.

As Donna Dewberry herself states, she naively assumed that when one painted, all colors in the painting should be on the brush at the same time.  So that's what she did,  and after much perseverance,  eventually came up with a quick, easy, low-stress method we now call "Donna Dewberry's One Stroke Painting Technique."

Donna Dewberry's career began with an interest in painting tin ware, developing into a business of painting several hundred mailboxes each month. Later her career expanded to include painted glassware, candles, fabric and furniture. Many of Donna Dewberry's items can be found in a number of high end stores.

Donna Dewberry has decorated the walls of over 1200 homes and businesses. Donna's husband, Marc, humorously describes the night she began her decorative wall painting. He remembers getting up one particular morning and seeing an entire scene painted on the wall.  Evidently she had run out of surfaces to paint during the night. Out of desperation from seeing her paint on every wall and door, he suggested that perhaps she should share her talent with others and paint on their walls.  Soon Donna Dewberry was doing just that.

As Donna Dewberry's art and technique flourished, she caught the attention of a large craft manufacturer, Plaid Enterprises, Inc, who teamed up with her to publish her designs for others to copy and learn.  Donna has authored many instructional books and videos over the years, and writes articles for numerous popular painting magazines such as Paint Works, Painting Magazine, Tole World, Quick & Easy Painting, Wood Strokes and Decorative Artists Workbook.  She is a featured artist on PBS TV and is in high demand as an interior designer and teacher.

Donna Dewberry's classes are so popular that she has taught and accredited over 6000 artists to teach her methods.  Marc, the husband of Donna Dewberry, has been instrumental in her success. Always encouraging her efforts and working side by side with her, he completed such tasks as selling, shipping, accounting, etc., allowing her to do what she loved most - painting.  As he watched her paint, he developed a knack for describing her brush strokes and techniques, and was able to write directions and instructions for her books.  Donna and Marc Dewberry live in Central Florida. They are the parents of seven children.
